You should never be persuaded to get your own safety certificate, as any necessary repairs will be at your cost.

What happens if the vehicle fails the Safety Inspection?

If a vehicle fails an inspection, you have 14 days to rectify any problems and re-present the vehicle for a second inspection.
As long as the vehicle is inspected within 14 days, there is no extra charge.
If the vehicle is presented after 14 days, the vehicle must under go another complete safety certificate inspection.
